This year will be the third edition of the event conceived and coordinated by the University Ca ‘Foscari in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice, which aims to involve all those who deal with art and culture in the city.
The general theme will be: the homage to the female talent, in all its expressions. Expect performances, dance and film, and best of all, the many special buildings which are normally closed to the public will open up from 6pm-1am!
Nearly 200 museums, galleries, book stores, concert halls, churches, educational and cultural centers will turn on their lights and open their doors to 400 cultural events, and welcome visitors looking to enrich their curious minds and souls. Free guided tours, concerts, literary readings, documentary films and musical performances will remind the world, and hopefully satisfy locals who often feel invaded at home, that Venice isn’t simply a tourist attraction, but a living, working, breathing conglomeration of magnificent culture.
The official moment with Rector Carlo Carraro and the authorities of the city, will be at 5pm. Then, a series of happenings such as an Instagram event, the opening of the exhibition spaces exhibit at Ca’Foscari at 6pm (such as the exhibit “Lost in Translation”), tributes to female talent with live performances at 10pm (in the main courtyard of Ca ‘Foscari), and much more!

For one night, on June 22nd, Venice will cast a different light: where the city’s history and past comes back to life as an engaging, exciting and stimulating nocturnal city. The river of young people at Art Night will expand throughout the city. No more empty squares that night, for Art Night will fill them up and bring life back to the city normally filled with tourists, thanks to a fresh flow of people and ideas.

I have had the fortune to enjoy this last year and I can’t wait to stroll through the city again to discover new churches or buildings with rooftop concerts. You never finish discovering all the beauty this city has to offer.
